Community Engagement Strategy
OMI's Strategic Plan 2009–13 commits the agency to engaging individuals, community organisations, the private sector and local government in policy development and long-term planning to support and promote cultural diversity. One of the key actions identified in the plan is consultation with CaLD communities to improve government decision-making processes, policies and programs.
OMI undertakes consultations and meetings by request and as required by the Minister, Strategic Plan priorities, policy development, current issues and community needs. The consultations are an opportunity for OMI to listen to the views of culturally and linguistically diverse communities and to pass on information about them to State Government agencies.
Consultation reports are available online and OMI works closely with the State, local government, Commonwealth and community groups and organisations to address the issues raised in the consultations.
We welcome your participation.
